Rzeszow University of Technology’s history dates from 1951, when the Engineering School was opened. The school was constantly developing and in 1974, by government decree, the school became Rzeszów University of Technology. At present the University has over  12,200 students at 6 faculties and 14 courses of study:

• The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering;
• The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics;
• The Faculty of Chemistry;
• The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering;
• The Faculty of Mathematics and Applied Physics;
• The Faculty of Marketing and Management.

The Rzeszow University of Technology apart from full-time studies offers extramural studies, post-graduate studies and trainings in Modern Production Technologies Transfer Centre for employees of companies from Podkarpackie Region. The trainings are financed from EU funds and they facilitate upgrading qualifications and obtaining knowledge in modern production technologies.

Podkarpackie Chemistry Association facilitates transfer of new technologies in chemistry between companies and scientists and it is financed from EU funds.

Apart from various faculties the students of the University have access to infrastructure that facilities their learning i.e. computer network, educational network Areonautica Integra that aims at integration of people who are involved in aeronautics and aviation, the network helps in solving problems and knowledge dissemination, library, science circles and social section that aims at financial support of students that are in difficult situation. The University supports its students and graduates in job finding and to do that Academic Career Support Office and IAESTE that helps in finding apprentership abroad were established.

In January 2007 an Academic Preincubator of Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park was established on the University of Technology Premises.
The University cooperates with universities from many European countries e.g. from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, Italy and Great Britain.
