WHY AEROPOLIS?

Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS is at present one of the most attractive investment areas in south – eastern Poland. AEROPOLIS is based on the idea of attracting modern companies and new technologies and exploration of local universities and R&D institutions.

 


The park is the first park in Poland that is focused on one type of industry. The park will continue the long lasting aviation industry tradition of the region. The park will be linked with aviation industry in R&D  and business area.

1. Potential of management and technical workforce


In the region there is a great potential of management and technical workforce especially in aerospace, chemical, electromechnical and timber industries. The industries have a long tradition in the region, in addition there are a lot of companies from aviation industry as well as R&D here.  Moreover, 16 thousand well qualified employees work in educational institutions of the region.


2. Potential of Rzeszów academic centre


In the Podkarpackie Voivodship there are 53,500 students that study in 7 public universities and 24,000 students study in ten private universities. The biggest universities are located in Rzeszow i.e. Rzeszow University, Rzeszow University of Technology, University of Information Technology and Management, University of Management . 47,800 students study on the universities and they constitute 67.5% of students in Podkarpackie Voivodship. The Rzeszów University of Technology is the biggest technical university in the region and only one in Poland that trains civil aviation pilots. There are 3,000 students on the faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of The Rzeszów University of Technology.

3. The most important transport routes that run via the voivodship

 

The Podkarpackie Voivodship is located on the crossroads of important transport routes that have Transeuropean reach. The city of Rzeszow is a central point of south-eastern Poland where the routes meet. The most important routes are:

 

  • National road No. 19 that runs via: Rzeszów – Lublin – Białystok – Kuźnica Białostocka – Poland border – Lithuania. In the future the road is planned to become a link between Baltic countries and South Europe;
  • National road No. 4 (international E 40) that runs via: Germany (Dresden) – Poland border – Jędrzychowice – Wrocław – Kraków – Rzeszów – Korczowa – Poland border – Ukraine (Lviv, Kiev). In the future the route will be linked with A4 motorway.

 

Railway in the region consist of the railway No. 91 that is a part of E-30 railway route that links Western Europe and Ukraine. There are a few cargo stations, junction stations and a cargo junction station Medyka – Przemyśl – Żurawica.

Moreover a broad gauge railway crosses the voivodship and it links Katowice with Ukraine. The railway is located in northern part of the region.
